Since Homo Sapiens have existed, our ability to create, save, communicate, transmit and share information has been an essential part of what makes us human.

Our capacity to store Information has grown much faster than exponentially throughout all of History; for instance, the amount of information that fits in the hand has been multiplied by fourteen orders of magnitude since the origin, and by millions during the last century.

In this workshop on Information, we have looked at the inventions which paved the way from written language to binary coding.

We have asked a number of questions : How is it possible to measure Information ? What is the storage capacity of a wax record, a tape, a photo, a movie, a compact disk, etc. ?

Please join us on May, 30th at 4.30 PM (S35) to celebrate together the constant power of innovation which humans have demonstrated through the past hundred thousand years!
