Student Awarded First Place in Paris Brain Bee

On Saturday, February 3, 2018, a group of six students from Ecole Jeannine Manuel participated in the 3rd annual Paris Brain Bee, held at the International School of Paris. Students completed written and oral challenges on brain anatomy and function, identification of neurological disorders, and use of brain imaging techniques, all in English. Twenty-two students participated overall, of which two of our students were finalists.
Five students total competed in the final round of questioning, and after 9 questions, Lilia, an EJM from 1° was declared the first place winner! She has been invited to participate in the International Brain Bee in July 2018.
The Brain Bee is a competition for lycée/high school students on the topic of neuroscience, in existence internationally since 1999, and designed to encourage interest and competence in neuroscience by young students. The Paris Brain Bee was begun three years ago, but this year's competition was the first to involve students from different schools.
The team intends to continue meeting this year in order to refine understanding, to create study tools and quizzes for the topics, and above all, to support Lilia in her continued studies in preparation for the International Brain Bee to be held in Berlin, Germany in July 2018.
